We had dinner with our neighbors before driving back to Boston tonight. Paula Sayword has just published her first book of poetry entitled "What Sleeps Inside". The book is not yet available online -- but should be soon. The image is from the publisher, Slate Roof Press. She will be doing a reading on Friday and another one next month. We purchased our copy from her tonight. She wrote on our copy, "we all have beauty, sorrow and magic that sleep inside". The book itself is beautiful, made on an old-fashioned press and hand-stitched. A work of art in and of itself. Congratulations Sayword! We had a quiet weekend. Yesterday I took Sasha for a long walk -- 2 hours. She is getting quite strong. It was 2 hours in part because I got lost in the woods, then it took a long time to walk home along the road as I stop and talk to everyone. Mark and I took her in the woods again today. She loves it. She is not yet ready to go off-leash but we trust her more and more, that she will come if called.
Michael flies back to Boston tomorrow night. Mark has asked me not to write about him anymore so I will honor that. I'll just say that we are in for a very uncertain future. His diagnosis (plural??) are heavy and prognosis is poor. Mark seems committed to his own self-preservation which I am happy about. We will do what we can. A lot is up to him as well. I remember an Irish proverb: even if your grandfather is tall, you still need to do your own growing.
