Vanessa's Gift

Last night Vanessa came over and brought Sasha yet another gift. This puppy has so many wonderful toys. Good thing that she keeps getting new ones as she chews through them faster than we can replace them. Vanessa brought her a squeeky dead orange chicken. She loved it! My sister also stopped by after teaching last night. She and Vanessa are also friends so it was a fun spontaneous evening.

Who knew that you needed training to manage a puppy, but we're learning and it's definitely working. We had another perfect night. I put her in her crate about 10pm or so and we both got up at 1:3am0 to pee. She barked occasionally throughout the night but we ignored her. I got up just before 6 and the crate was clean, she was happy, and life is good.

Before our visitors, I took her for a long walk in a very busy neighborhood. I like to expose her to all different kinds of situations. She did great. She didn't jump on anyone other than me (once) and is getting better about not pulling on the leash. I am sure that there are instructions for how to do it more consistently -- am not at the chapter yet in the new book!

It's working out pretty well to go to the Green Dog park in the morning, practice yoga, then go to work. I now sit in meditation in the evening. Last Thursday I did it at work during lunch in my office. That worked well, too. I am still working out the details about how to manage my time and do everything I like to do with the introduction of my new canine friend. She is awesome.
