I have clearly lost my mind to be so obsessed with this dog. Here she is chewing (always chewing) on a bumper, a training toy to teach them to fetch in water. So far all we've done with it throw it around the yard.
I am happy to report that the worming she had yesterday cleared up everything. If you have a weak stomach, don't read the rest of this paragraph. Yesterday when we got home, she passed stool full of thin white worms. Some alive, some dead. It was absolutely disgusting. I didn't eat for several hours after witnessing that. Then later she threw up -- many times -- and tried to eat it again. Wow. I cleaned the crate -- again -- washed the floor -- again -- washed the rugs -- again -- gave her a bath -- again. By dinner I was almost in tears. That is no exaggeration. I wanted to kill Mark -- and her. Mark had nothing to do with it, however, of course. I just went on a rant about his son. It was ugly. I was ugly. To calm down I went and did walking meditation through the trees. When looking back towards the house I could see the fire pit and the deck all lit up like jewels. I eventually calmed down.
I got up 3 times in the night to check on her. Mark got up once. Lo and behold, she didn't have any accidents. Her poo was totally normal. We are back on track.
We'll go see the breeder again in 2 weeks for another dose of de-wormer.
We're going to spend today on the hill enjoying our healthy puppy. We closed on the purchase of 57 acres of land on Friday so Mark has been walking the boundary, posting it for no hunting. We now have 72 acres altogether. We are joking that we feel like landed gentry. It is beautiful here, very cool and sunny. We had coffee on the front porch wearing hats, slippers and heavy fleece. Beautiful weather for a woman with hot flashes. Tonight we'll meet up with Jeff and Karma for dinner.
