I saw The Vixen this morning for a 3-month follow-up.
The last time I saw her, I got scanned. That was all good. She had started me on 3 months of blood thinners due to a blood clot that was discovered May 6. That was kind of a bummer, injecting myself every 12 hours for 3 months. But since all is well, I am off that now, too.
I am always pressing for less treatment, she kind of holds the line. After some discussion, what we agreed to is that I got Lupron injection again today. I'll get scanned in 3 months. If all is well at that point, I'll go off Lupron (OFF ALL CANCER TREATMENT!) but she will ask for blood tests every month to watch the hormone levels. The average age of menopause is 51 and since I'm 53, I should be there now anyway. If my hormones stay low for a few months, then I won't get monthly blood draws, either.
But she will insist on 6 month scans for a while. That's OK. I feel awesome so I think I'm home free...
This year I did not ride the Pan Mass Challenge (it seemed a bit much to continue to ask friends for donations after 5 years of cancer fundraisers) but got 3 donations anyway. I felt kind of bad about that! but the money still goes to the Dana Farber even if I do not have an active account. I am training for another century ride on 9/20 but it's not a fundraiser. Just 100+ grueling miles from Florence, MA up into Vermont. I've been training since March with Gayle and Bernd on those hills so hopefully I'll be able to finish the ride.
All good!
Blessings!
