Outdoor Sculpture

This photo was taken at Galleries Lafayette, one of the huge shopping malls in Paris. This is the ceiling of the main hall. On the first floor is the perfume department. It was so overwhelming that I didn't buy anything -- it was too hard to focus and choose. It has the feel of an opera house -- the amazing ceiling with open balconies looking down to the ground floor. It was really something.

Mark and I drove out West last night. These last few days have been full of shifts and changes of plans. Our friend Chitra from Bangalore was to have flown in to Boston last night, but changed her plans and returned to India sooner due to a family emergency. My friend Julie also asked to come for the weekend with one of her teen daughters at the last minute -- so it all worked out, but in a different configuration.

It is quiet and beautiful here. No seeds came up that I planted last weekend but that's to be expected. The tomato plants survived and are looking strong. It's raining and cool so it will be an indoor kind of weekend. That's fine, too. I'm working to complete my first outdoor sculpture and need Mark to help put together the last details. I have lots of ideas but no skill whatsoever at using power tools!

Mark continues to feel better each day.
