I went alone to my appointment today which was fine. No problem. I really want and need someone to go with me for the scans -- that is still kind of scary -- but the next one isn't scheduled until August. I asked the nurse practicioner, Anne, about something The Vixen said some months ago. The Vixen had told me that if I did well for a while on the current regimen, then at a future date, they may take me off all treatment. So I asked Anne about it today and she agreed. She said that we'll keep everything in place for 5 years (3 years, 2 months more) with Tamoxifen and Lupron. I will take the Zometa every 4 months until November. Then I'll stop with that. I was thrilled with this conversation. Of course she cautioned me that she doesn't want to be too optimistic, but she said that I may be one of those lucky people who doesn't hear back from the cancer for many years, if ever.
