I felt pretty wrecked today after 2 long walks, even followed by yoga practice. I may have to stay at this mileage for a while. I don't have the juice to do more at this point. Even so, I commuted to work on my bike today. That felt fine, actually. I got a little unnerved at work today. A colleague asked me to draft a letter for a patient with stage IV cancer who is in hospice. I often draft these doctor's letters -- which they of course first have to approve, then sign. I often say that an 8th grader could do parts of my job -- including writing those letters. In any case, she described his physical decline in great detail. I don't think that she knows my diagnosis. The patient is a relative so she sees him frequently. She said that he was emaciated, bloated and in pain from the cancer spreading to the liver. That freaked me out. I rarely think about what might happen to my body. Every so often I do get scared. A few hours later I was asked to write another letter for a different patient, also with stage IV cancer. I felt a little shaky all day.
So what do I do to relax? Film! Tonight I am excited to see "The Runaways". It has received good reviews. A fun night out. The image is from the film.

Some of your readers may find my recent radio show, Tribute To The Runaways, an interesting listen. It explores the band's music, solo music and bands that have benefited from their groundbreaking work. It can be streamed for free at http://www.neatnetnoise.com.
thanks for your comment. I will go to your site. I was very excited by the film. I came of age in that same time period. I somehow wasn't aware of the band at the time, however. The music is great! Very inspiring in a certain way, tragic as well in terms of the toll it took on them as individuals. But ground-breaking. -- Lola
