Late Start

I spent the day in the studio with Lulu, finishing up a small commission to make some placemats as well as the War and Peace Project. For the first time today I felt frustrated by this project. How to create something fresh with the same materials, the same limited palette? I feel like I'm doing the same thing over and over. That is boring as an artist. I think we are up to #80 or so. When this has happened in the past -- and it has happened plenty of times -- it usually means that a positive shift is coming. There will be some kind of opening, a freshness will come to the work.

We left the city late tonight as Ashley got caught up at City Year. We are now out West. I just checked the garden with the flashlight, and the spinach is up that I planted 3 weeks ago. Very exciting. And the magnolia tree is in full bloom. Can't wait for the morning so I can walk around and see what's different. I've missed 2 weekends in a row here so I'm very happy to be here.

Tomorrow I plan to do an even longer walk. According to the Avon Walk training guidelines, I should be walking 14 miles at this point, in order to be ready to do 26 in July. I have the pedometer with me so will attempt to do 12 miles tomorrow. Mark says he will pick me up if I tucker out. My own personal "sag" wagon.
