Night Time Walking

Irene, Carlos [and Sasha, of course] are in the country. We arrived after dark last night, but still wanted to get in a good walk. I bought a flashlight this week in anticipation of the time change. So I pulled out my new flashlight, only to have it sputter out after a few moments. So then we had to decide -- continue on in the darkness, or give up and go back inside? We soldiered on until the end of the driveway, then our eyes adjusted, so we decided to proceed with no light other than the crescent moon and stars. It was magical! We were able to walk confidently along the dirt road. It was so beautiful, so memorable. It was so fun that we did it again tonight.

We drove out to have lunch at Rick and Lucy's. It was a beautiful warm sunny day so we were able to eat lunch outside which was wonderful. Our only regret was that we didn't have more time together as Lucy and Rick had to get somewhere else by mid-afternoon.

So we've been having fun, poking around these hill towns. We went for a short walk this morning and met up with this bow hunter. He explained the ins and outs of the hunting season. We'll be here tomorrow, then will drive back to the city/airport on Sunday. They will fly back to Brazil -- and I'll return to work.
