It is cold and clear here this morning, and I intend to take Sasha for a long walk in the woods, maybe just the two of us. We plan to visit some artist Open Studios in the hill town west of us. I have never gone and am curious about the kind of work they will be showing. I've heard that these woods are full of artists -- most of whose work is not online or certainly not in galleries. We all love these kinds of adventures. The only problem is Mark has asked me to stop buying other artist's work -- our cabinets are overflowing with fantastic pottery and all kinds of beautiful hand-made objects.
Later we plan to visit MassMOCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, which is the largest contemporary museum in the USA. It opened in 1999 on the site of a former electric company. The space is totally amazing and I love to go there. Irene and Carlos will get a real kick of out it as well.
We are having a glorious time out here in the middle of nowhere, in our cozy place in the woods. Prior to visiting here, they had spent the last 10 days in NYC. So they are experiencing a study in contrasts. We have been friends for 20 years and is the first time I am really hosting them. At long last!
