It has been a difficult couple of days. Actually more than that. Maybe 10 days or so. Mark's 21 year old son is having some significant difficulties, so we are both in disarray. We makes plans but everything continues to shift. One of Mark's favorite film lines is from one of the Mel Gibson "Mad Max" films. "Plan? There ain't no plan." That's been the last few days. I find that quite unnerving. So I am out West by myself. Mark drove from here to New Jersey at mid-day today where his son is now living to help him figure out what to do next. I had intended to go to Lucy's but am feeling so ungrounded that I'm staying put. I am hardly ever alone and don't really like to be, but sometimes it feels just right. When I feel ungrounded, I like to work in the garden. I did that for hours today. Weeding, watering, cooling off with the hose. I got sunburned and totally bug-bitten. It was wonderful.
The truck had a dead battery, so I called a neighbor. He couldn't come, but called another neighbor who I didn't really know, a woman. She came right over with her truck. She had never used jumper cables before, and I am a complete idiot with that kind of thing. She was quite competent, and got it started right up. I gave her some garden lettuce as a thank-you. So now I have a working vehicle and a new friend in the area. I got a big kick out of her competency.
I was so disorganized yesterday while packing (a sure sign of being ungrounded -- I couldn't make any decisions about what to bring and forgot my camera cable) so will rely on images from Wikipedia for the next few days. Today's image is sungold tomatoes -- I harvested the first two this morning. Very exciting.
