26 miles!

Paula and Claude joined us for the first part of the walk yesterday. They met up with us at the Warming Hut which is just at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. We walked across together. What an experience. They went to mile 5, then turned around and walked back home. Kelsey, Mark and I continued on to the finish, mile 26. I sat next to a grumpy woman on the bus (transfer between Wellness Village and the hotel) who called the last several miles a "death march". I have to say it wasn't particularly easy or fun, the last few miles. It was a real push, at least for Mark and me. Kelsey just loped along, smiling the whole way.

We started at 7am, and finished at 6:30pm. It is definitely the most challenging thing I've ever done. I can only say "hats off" to those who run 26 miles. Walking it just about did me in!

We could have camped at the Wellness Village but 1) I hate camping and 2) it felt really good to have a hot shower, a soft bed and room service. How decadent!

As I lay in bed with throbbing feet, Kelsey got dressed to go out. She met up with her boyfriend's cousin who took her to a tattoo parlor/gallery opening event. She got back at 1:30am, then woke up at 5:30 to catch the bus to the 13 mile walk today. Mark and I slept on, hobbling around, up to Starbucks where we are now.

We'll meet up with Paula and Claude at mid-day for one final adventure. This has been an amazing trip. Wow.
