Got Water?

Open Studios was a bust this year. I am so disappointed and frustrated. I hate "wasting" time. The weather was absolutely perfect -- upper 80's and sunny. Everyone must have gone to the beach. Or to the golf course. Who knows where. Not here! The foot traffic was even lighter today than yesterday. I felt a little like a caged animal, unable to leave the house for 7 hours straight. There were some highlights, of course, but overall it wasn't that great.

Lots of friends stopped by -- I always enjoy that. One of my neighbors does public relations for a non-profit arts program. She loved the wooden sculptures in the garden. She gave me me the name of a woman who does conservation and maintenance of outdoor sculptures. She said that I should contact her about materials to use for new outdoor work. That's a great tip.

The highlight of the weekend was walking with Mark last night in the city. We left the house just after 6pm when the show closed, and walked for over 3 hours. I was able to return the inaccurate pedometer (without a receipt or packaging because we are members of REI and they reimbursed fully). Not sure exactly how far we went as his GPS lost satellite contact at one point. But it was probably about 10 miles. That was great. We walked by Fenway Park, down the Southwest Corridor Park of the South End, around the Boston Common, even along the Freedom Trail for a bit. Many of the well-known Boston landmarks.

We are in the middle of a water emergency. A 10 foot pipe broke that connected the metropolitan Boston area with the reservoir. We have water - and we're grateful for that -- but are under orders to boil it before use. We can use water for bathing, laundry, stuff like that. So it's the talk of the neighborhood today. It may be several weeks before it's fixed. Starbucks was closed this morning -- what a terrible thing! Actually, that was disappointing.

Now that this weekend is over, we'll turn our thoughts to planning the trip to Paris late this month.
