Tonight I taught prenatal yoga, and Kande came to class as a student. It was kind of funny as we were practicing together just yesterday, and she herself taught prenatal yoga for many years. In fact yesterday she showed me some things that I will incorporate into my own teaching. I find that I am enjoying teaching very much. It feels good to be back in the teacher role again. I rode my bike to work today so it was quite brisk tonight riding home way after dark.
Wednesday is Mark's birthday and we are both taking the day off from work. He has huge plans for us -- a day in the city with many possibilities. His vision is inspired by our friend Karla who can pack more into her birthday celebration in one day than anyone else we know.
Months ago I signed up for a 2-day retreat this weekend, and I think I'm going to do it. My meditation has felt steady and wonderful the last few weeks. I really, really want to be able to take Narayan's old "yogi's class" in the winter term. This is the last retreat she will offer in a while, so it's an opportunity. I'm nervous about it, yes. Saturday runs 9am til 9pm, and Sunday is 9am til 6pm. I have never sat for more than 45 minutes straight. The retreat will offer sitting and walking meditation, interviews with the teachers, some dharma talks, meals and some household tasks. I may decide not to go at the last minute, but am pretty sure I'll give it a shot.
