A few months ago, at my last appointment, Lucy and I met with some Dana Farber staff members about doing some projects with them. A few of the ideas were to do some collage-making workshops or perhaps even showing The War and Peace Project there. But nothing really panned out other than being invited to write a patient story on their blog. It was just posted today, and here it is!
I really do love the Dana Farber.
Speaking of which, I get scanned again 2 weeks from tomorrow. I have been feeling excellent. Since my last scan on July 11, I rode 111 in the Pan Mass Challenge in early August. I would like to do another century ride this weekend, but the weather is forecast for cold rain and those are not great conditions for a long ride. Nervous about this scan? Yep. Definitely. If pain was an accurate indicator, I am fine. I have no pain anywhere. My body feels great. This week I was finally able to practice handstands again. (That injury was actually caused by Sasha 2 years ago when she gave a strong yank on her leash.) My stomach churns when I imagine sitting in the exam room, waiting for results.
I really don't think about it all that much, but inevitably when the scans are about 2 weeks away, the anxiety creeps up again. I've had 4 amazing years since diagnosis on August 25, 2008. So come what may!
Sasha had her annual vet visit a few weeks ago and tested positive for Lyme disease. The vet also tested her levels, and she was quite high. So she started antibiotics a week ago. And she is much more energetic. So although she was asymptotic, clearly something was going on in her system. She is one happy girl!
